Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to sell Westchester home where Mary Kennedy committed suicide

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is selling the eco-friendly Westchester home where his wife hanged herself, and friends are touting the house as a tribute to her environmental legacy.

The 14-room Bedford estate is listed at just under $4 million. The home has been dubbed the Green House for its state of the art, cutting edge environmental refinements.

The body of Kennedy’s estranged wife, Mary, was found May 16 hanging from the rafters of a barn on the property along South Bedford Road.

Friends said Mary, an architectural designer, was largely responsible for the homes environmental accents, including solar roof shingles, a geothermal heating and cooling system and energy star rated appliances.

“The house is a legacy and a tribute to Mary’s genius and commitment to the environment,” said one of Mary’s close friends. “When you are at the home, you really appreciate everything that it has – it has such a great feeling.”

Despite Mary Kennedy’s tragic death, sources said the house has drawn a lot of interest since it went on the market.
