Based on the third military tribunal of the Nuremberg trials, this brilliant Stanley Kramer film from a script by Abby Mann centers on the war crimes trial of four Nazi judges, presided over by a retired judge (Spencer Tracy). Called the best courtroom drama on film, it brought honors for Maximilian Schell, who may be the lowest-billed actor to ever win a Best Actor Oscar. Also starring Burt Lancaster, Marlene Dietrich and Judy Garland.

Real tragedy struck following the film’s release when the sisters in the movie, O’Rourke and Dominique Dunne, both died .
