Statue of Liberty reopening sidelined by Hurricane Sandy

The much-anticipated reopening of the Statue of Liberty to the public will be delayed for a few more days because of Hurricane Sandy.

The National Parks Service had announced last month that Lady Liberty would reopen yesterday to celebrate its 126th anniversary. The iconic statue symbolizing freedom was dedicated Oct. 28, 1886.

But the service said yesterday the statue will be closed today and tomorrow. It is expected to reopen Wednesday.
