Student life at NYU is Rx-rated

No wonder it’s called higher education.

The director of security at NYU recently requested a special meeting with top NYPD officials to brainstorm ideas on how to best combat a rise in dorm-living students peddling prescription pills on the side, sources told The Post.

Some college kids are having the meds delivered right to their dorm mailboxes and then reselling them to classmates or strangers on Craigslist, law-enforcement sources said.

The top-secret pill powwow between Jules Martin, vice president of global security and crisis management at the school, and police brass from the Sixth, Ninth and 13th precincts, where the school has residence halls, as well as members of the Narcotics Bureau, was supposed to happen today, the sources added.

It was canceled because of Hurricane Sandy, and a rain date has yet to be scheduled, the sources said.

NYU spokesman John Beckman insisted the confab wasn’t “in response to something that was or is going on on campus.”

“From time to time, the leadership of NYU’s Public Safety Department sit down with NYPD commanders to avail themselves of their expertise and knowledge and to better understand what might be going on out there,” he said.

Two weeks ago, 21 people, including NYU grad student Yasmin Malhotra — a former intern for Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) — were busted for allegedly selling Xanax, Valium and Adderall on Craigslist.
