Senate control up in air

WASHINGTON — With a week to go until election day, Senate candidates are battling mightily for control of the chamber.

“I don’t know if we’ve had this many races this close,” said Jennifer Duffy, who tracks the Senate for The Cook Political Report in Washington.

In Connecticut, Republican Linda McMahon is slightly trailing Rep. Chris Murphy in the polls.

In Montana, Sen. Jon Tester (D) is trying to fend off a tough challenge from Rep. Denny Rehberg.

In Virginia, Former Sen. George Allen (R) is trying to win back his seat against former Gov. Tim Kaine.
