China’s Don deal

Don Draper and his “Mad Men” cronies are a big hit in China.

The Chinese social networking site, douban.com, has over 400 group discussion topics devoted to all-things “Mad Men” — with subject headers including “I love women like Joan” and “Peggy slept with Duck and I’m disgusted!,” according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

According to the report, Chinese fans of the AMC drama relate to the show not because of its ’60s-era flavor, but because it reflects a lot of what’s going on currently in the Chinese culture: a high divorce rate, lots of smoking in the workplace and a workforce dominated by men.

Show producer Lionsgate licenses “Mad Men” to stream on sohu.com, with Chinese subtitles, according to the report.

“Mad Men,” entering its sixth season, stars Jon Hamm as bad-boy ad exec Draper.
