Sandy slams biz

Hurricane Sandy ripped a gaping hole through the TV production business.

The monstrous hurricane, which barreled into Manhattan yesterday, forced the cancellation of dozens of TV shows and talk shows that shoot in the tri-state area.

NBC halted production for all East Coast productions including “Law & Order: SVU,” “30 Rock” and “Smash” — all of which film in New York City — and “Infamous” and “Do No Harm,” which film in Philly, according to deadline.com.

NBC also cancelled production on its syndicated daytime talk shows that shoot in Stamford, Ct.: “Maury” and “Steve Wilkos.”

Production was also cancelled on “The Carrie Diaries” and “Gossip Girl” (The WB), “666 Park Avenue” (ABC), “Person of Interest,” “Elementary” and “Blue Bloods” (CBS) and “Nurse Jackie” and “The Big C” (Showtime).

The production shutdown was unprecedented for shows filming in the tri-state area.

New York’s late-night shows, “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” were, at press time, going ahead with plans to tape their shows.

Jimmy Kimmel Live,” which is taping a week’s worth of shows this week at BAM in Brooklyn, cancelled last night’s broadcast.

“We are hopeful to be back on the air [tonight] with Howard Stern, Tracy Morgan and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings,” the show said in a statement.

“Kimmel” had flown staffers to New York early in order to beat Sandy, but no such luck.
