Loving mom’s online journal paints a tender family portrait

Heartbroken mother Marina Krim kept a detailed online journal that chronicled her children’s adventures — from eating Gray’s Papaya in Manhattan to peach-picking in New Jersey to family trips to Legoland.

She posted thousands of pictures on the site, which was first called “Little Miss Lucia,” but then renamed “Life with the Little Krim Kids” once the two younger kids came around. It painted a picture of a blissfully happy mother and her adorable three children.

Leo, 2, loved collecting acorns, riding buses — which the toddler called “school bus” — and his train collection.

Lucia, 6, was a first-grader in Manhattan obsessed with everything princess. Cinderella was one of her favorites.

Together, Lulu, Leo and surviving middle-sister Nessie are seen on posting after posting to be inseparable — splashing through fountains around the city during the summer, playing together around the house and just being happy little kids.

“I am very proud that the three kids absolutely love to play together and never seem to get bored at home,” wrote the loving Krim.

Here’s a glimpse at this mother’s love seen on her blog:

Aug. 14, 2012: A few weekends ago, we headed out to New Jersey for peach picking. It started off bad — it took us over 1 hour to get off the island of Manhattan. Then, it got worse — at lunch, Leo pounded a chocolate malt, then ate big chunks of hot dog (that became one giant bolus) and when I arrived back to our table after a trip to the bathroom with the girls, there was a huge vomit all over Leo . . . While Kevin sat like a deer in headlights . . . I cleaned us up, and ran out without looking at a soul.

Oct. 24, 2012: A New Yorker and her dog

Aug. 10, 2012: My girls

May 17, 2012: Croc Fetish: Leo is totally infatuated with Crocs. It started very innocently where he was trying to stuff his feet in his yellow infant Crocs . . . So, today, we took him to the Croc store to get a new pair . . . We picked some out, he wore them out of the store and he hasn’t taken them off since. Even at nap time — Josie, our nanny, took them off and he screamed bloody murder, so she put them back on and he went to sleep in them. I wonder what will happen at bedtime tonight?

April 21, 2010: And How Can I Forget This One: Today our housekeeper was here cleaning . . . and I am not crazy about her . . . and I kindly gave her some quick directions to please clean the top of the espresso machine which she never does and was covered in coffee grinds and dust . . . and our housekeeper looked at me with a blank stare as if I were crazy and walked away . . . and seconds later, Lulu says, “Mama, I don’t think she is listening to you.” Thank you Lulu, you are right!!!!

Feb. 5, 2012: Lulu’s 1st Boyfriend: Lulu is in love. His name is Joakim, he’s 1/2 British, 1/2 Swedish. He lives in our apartment building and is a kindergartener at PS 87 (not in the same class though). He speaks with a British accent, is a total hipster and we love his parents. A few weekends ago, we walked into Lulu’s bedroom and they were in bed together. And tonight, I walked in and Lulu was kissing him. When I asked her about it later, Lulu said that Joakim was whispering to her to kiss him. She gets totally giddy around him. It’s love!! Not sure Lulu knows this but Joakim has 2 other girlfriends as well . . .

Sept. 19, 2010: Window Shopping: While we were walking home from school this morning, Leo was window shopping and saw some toy cars/trucks/fire engines/etc in the window — he said, “Mama, pay it, pay it.” I told him that maybe he could get that stuff as a present for his birthday. We continue walking, and he spots a toy helicopter in the window. This time he says, “Mama, present, present.” I said, “OK Lito, good idea.” Later, I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and he said, “Fire Engine, helicopter.” Lito, I must say, is a very clever little boy. He is super talkative and just has a million thoughts running through his brain and can express himself amazingly well for an almost-2 year old. I’m thinking he could be a Mini-Kevin.

Sept. 30, 2012: Here’s Leo and his Pinkalicious-inspired cupcakes (one of his favorite books). It’s 10:04 p.m. and all 3 kids are still wide awake and wild in bed . . . think I put too much sugar in those things? Lito finally says he’s 2 . . . for the longest time, he liked to say he was 4. Such an adorable boy he is!!! Update — 10:27pm — all 3, still wild. Update II — 10:49pm — all 3, still awake. Nessie crying hysterically.

Sept. 30, 2012: We celebrated Leo’s 2nd birthday today and a great birthday it was. He’s been receiving great presents all week, then woke up this morning to many more — train tracks, this Brio tunnel and subway. The 3 kids have been fighting over the toys all evening . . . in fact, Nessie took the tunnel to bed with her which Kevin later removed. We spent the day in the Hudson Valley, picnicking and picking apples at Minard Farms. Then, picking pumpkins straight from the vine at a nearby patch.

Sept. 17, 2012: Trip to the farm: We went out to Ghent a few weeks ago, to pick some eggs.

Oct. 12, 2012: Friendless Leo: A sad truth about the third child in the family — Leo has not a single friend his age. He is always surrounded by kids and always ends up tagging along with much older children. A few days ago, he was pleasantly surprised when he met a fellow 2-year-old (sister of a new kid in Lulu’s class) at a class parents coffee I attended. As soon as Hannah arrived, he walked up to her, shared his trains and they were instant buddies . . . It was super cute.

June 14, 2012: A Day in the Life of Our Chaos: Leo standing on the table, flickering the lights, Lulu doing art in her underwear, Babar begging for food and Nessie drawing with a permanent marker . . . Isn’t normal, right?!

April 28, 2011: Nessie Goes to “Lita:” There was a reception tonight for new students at La Escuelita . . . the new student would be Nessie, who starts in September. She was thrilled to be playing in Lulu’s classroom.
