Clyde: Knicks’ Anthony ready to make ‘quantum leap’

Walt “Clyde” Frazier said he thinks Carmelo Anthony is ready to quiet the doubters and not only have a breakout season in his first full year with the Knicks, but develop into the all-around player many have been calling for him to become.

“He’s saying all the right things. He’s doing all the right things,” Frazier told The Post during the MSG Network’s Knicks Season Roundtable at his restaurant, Clyde Frazier’s Wine & Dine, in Chelsea. “He’s ready to make that quantum leap.”

Frazier, the MSG television analyst, Knicks legend and two-time NBA champion, said he always has felt Anthony, whom he said has “become the face of the franchise,” can do more than just score, a knock on the superstar forward. Frazier has told Anthony he should be a 20-point, 10-rebound, and five-assist per game player.

“Hopefully, he does it,” Frazier said. “I think he’s aware of that. I think he knows what he has to do. It’s a matter of doing it.”

Frazier entered the preseason with high hopes for the Knicks. But after seeing players go down with one injury after another — from Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith to Amar’e Stoudemire and Marcus Camby —, he’s less confident.
