‘Downton Abbey” matriarch Dame Maggie Smith is looking increasingly unlikely to take on a fourth season of the highbrow soap after she suffered a heart scare late last week.
Dame Maggie, 77, complained of severe chest pains on Friday in London, according to reports, and was taken to a private hospital for emergency tests. She was reportedly discharged the same day.
“It was a big scare for Maggie and she was really worried because she was in a lot of pain,” a source told London’s Sunday Mirror.
“She will have to think very carefully now about whether she stays in the show. Her health always comes first and I am sure she will take advice from the experts.”
