Giants Blitz

HERO

Pittsburgh’s defense contained Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks and everyone else on the Giants’ offense yesterday, holding the unit to just 13 points (the Giants scored seven on a defensive TD). Manning finished just 10-for-24 for 125 yards and an interception, while Nicks managed only one catch for 10 yards. Only two Giants — Victor Cruz and Martellus Bennett — caught more than a pass each.

UNSUNG HERO

With Rashard Mendenhall and Jonathan Dwyer both inactive, Steelers running back Isaac Redman marched through the Giants defense for 147 yards on 26 carries and the go-ahead fourth-quarter touchdown.

ZERO

Eli Manning delivered one of his worst games of the season, throwing a bad interception in the first half, nearly having another picked in the end zone and failing to lead the Giants’ comeback from a fourth-quarter deficit. Ben Roethlisberger easily outplayed his 2004 Draft rival, completing 21-of-30 passes for two touchdowns — without receiver Antonio Brown for much of the game due to injury.

182

The Giants’ total yardage gained yesterday against the Steelers’ defense.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“We wanted emotionally so badly to win the game for obvious reasons, for all our neighbors who are struggling and who need some type of inspiration. Of course, we didn’t provide it for them.” — Giants coach Tom Coughlin
