A second ‘blow’ is coming

Con Ed yesterday warned that the lights that finally flickered back on for thousands of city customers over the weekend could be knocked out again by an expected nor’easter.

“I’m sure there are a number of places that still have tree limbs dangling on electrical lines or that have pieces of equipment in a compromised state,’’ said John Miksad, a Con Ed vice president in charge of electric operations.

The dose of bad news came as forecasters predicted that temperatures in the city will dip to near freezing today and tomorrow, leaving those still without heat or power in an even worse state.

The upcoming storm is expected to hit the East Coast late Wednesday morning, bringing punishing rains, winds and surges of up to 3 feet in coastal areas already hard hit by Hurricane Sandy.
