Name Check: RZA

Hip Hop star RZA is the latest guest to stop by The New York Post’s studio.

On Name Check with Michael Riedel, the musician-turned-movie director gave a little insight to the making of “The Man with the Iron Fists,” which stars himself, Lucy Liu and Russell Crowe.

RZA explained to Riedel that his love of martial arts movies goes back to the “old” Times Square where triple-billing of Kung Fu movies was a regular feature. From there, his fascination with the genre was extended to his music and eventually to his latest film.

But, before getting a studio to green light “Fists,” RZA said he became a student of director Quentin Tarantino and eventually collaborated on a script with Eli Roth.

Watch Name Check and see how movies such as “The Last Emperor” and, even, “All About Eve” influenced RZA’s martial arts homage.
