MTA adds to Metro North service following Hurricane Sandy

City dwellers just might be wishing they lived in the ‘burbs right now.

The MTA added more service to MetroNorth this morning, which is operating on time in many cases and with plenty of seats for riders.

The Harlem line is operating at its regular schedule between Grand Central Terminal and Mt Kisco. The MTA also added limited service between Mt. Kisco and Southeast station, which is in Putnam County.

Parts of the New Haven line — between Grand Central and Stamford — are also operating on its regular schedule.

“We’re running a normal service so we have enough trains,” said Metro-North spokeswoman Marjorie Anders.

“On the New Haven line, we have plenty of seats.”

Other parts of the city’s mass transit systems are a different story.

Commuters reported crush-like conditions on many subways, which are running in limited sections.

No subway service is operating at all between 34th Street in Manhattan to Downtown Brooklyn.

The Long Island Rail Road is also operating limited service between Great Neck and Penn and Ronkonkoma and Penn.
