Plucked from peril

New Yorkers also kept an eye out for wildlife.

A Greenpoint couple waiting out Monday’s oncoming storm at their local pub took a stray chicken under their wing.

Chris Mottalini, 33, and his girlfriend, Nepal Asatthawa, 31, had been putting back some beers when they spotted a brown chicken clucking and strutting in front of the bar.

Worried that the hen would become a victim of the looming “Frankenstorm,” the pair picked the gentle bird up and took it home with them.

There, they made her a bed from a cardboard box and lined it with T-shirts to make her comfortable in the kitchen as the hurricane approached.

“She was so freaked out by the storm, she wouldn’t stop clucking,” said Mottalini.

On Tuesday, the no-longer-spooked hen showed her thanks by laying them an egg.

“She’s a good girl,” said Mottalini, who’s sending her to a new home at the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, NY.

“We have the egg in the fridge,” he said.

“We just would feel bad about cooking it while she was here.”

The “Frankenhen” will be moving to a new home at the Animal Sanctuary in upstate Watkins Glen.
