SI Ferry to restart service at noon today

Ferry good.

The Staten Island Ferry starts running again at noon today, the city’s Transportation Department announced.

The first boat will depart from the Staten Island side, followed by half-hourly service in both directions.

The South Ferry 1 train stop has yet to reopen. It was severely flooded in Hurricane Sandy.

The ferries were not damaged in the storm, but the terminals needed major repairs.

The service resumption means that Sunday’s New York City Marathon will be able to kick off from its traditional starting point on the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.
