New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was brought to tears after getting a hug from his longtime unrequited love — Bruce Springsteen.
Christie has been to more than 130 Springsteen concerts, but the liberal Jersey rocker has all but refused to acknowledge his existence . . . until now.
Christie saw Springsteen in New York Friday at an NBC telethon for Hurricane Sandy victims, at which the rocker performed.
“We hugged. He told me it’s official, we’re friends,” said Christie, who then proceed to gush about the meeting to his new BFF, President Obama.
“So, I told the president today, actually that the hug was great and that when we got home, there was a lot of weeping because of the hug. The president asked why and I said, ‘To be honest, I was the one doing the weeping.’ ”
