Last year, super agent Scott Boras said the cash-strapped Mets and Dodgers were shopping in the “fruits and nuts” section of the supermarket during free agency. Asked yesterday about the Dodgers’ shopping potential — under a new, wealthy ownership group that includes Magic Johnson — Boras said: “I think they bought the store.”
Boras was then asked in what aisle the Mets are shopping.
“I think the Mets, maybe the best you can say, they might be in the freezer section,” Boras said. “But there’s a lot of good, long-standing products they can acquire.”
Boras’ comment was relayed to Mets general manager Sandy Alderson by The Post.
“Freezer burn is something I’m familiar with,” Alderson said.
