Reid keeping faith in Eagles

Coach Andy Reid says he still believes the Eagles can turn their season around.

The Eagles (3-5) have given him little reason to truly think that, though. They were sloppy and battered in a 28-13 loss to New Orleans on Monday night. They failed to score a touchdown in five trips inside the red zone and Michael Vick was sacked seven times.

Reid says the Eagles are only “off a little bit” and it’s just a matter of getting a “few things tightened up.” Their problems go deeper than a few adjustments, however.

Reid also says he’s not worried about owner Jeffrey Lurie’s preseason decree that the Eagles need to win big this season to save the coach’s job. At this rate of losing, though, Reid may not return for Year 15.

“There is no time to think about those things,” Reid said. “The guys are worrying about getting themselves better to win football games. That’s number one. That’s where I sit.”

STEELERS: Receiver Antonio Brown (sprained right ankle) is unlikely to be available for Monday’s game against the reeling Chiefs. Brown leads the Steelers (5-3) with 42 receptions.

RAIDERS: Linebacker Aaron Curry, the fourth overall pick in 2009 who has been nursing injured knees, was activated from the physically unable to perform list.

REDSKINS: Mike Shanahan’s players are supporting their coach after he seemingly wrote off the season at 3-6 and then said his comments had been misinterpreted.

“I thought he clarified exactly what he meant, how it wasn’t portrayed the way it needed to be,” said co-captain London Fletcher, a 15-year veteran. “He’s not a person who gives up on a season.”

SAINTS: Having served his eight-game suspension in connection with the NFL’s bounty probe, general manager Mickey Loomis has returned to work at team headquarters.
