A 4-year-old Brooklyn girl, with bruises on her head and chest, was found dead in her crib yesterday, police sources said.
Little Halii McCord was put to bed by her mother, Alicia McLaughlin, at around 5 p.m. Monday in their home in the Boulevard Houses in East New York, the sources said.
When McLaughlin, 21, went to check on her child the following morning, the girl wasn’t breathing.
The frantic mother called 911 and emergency responders rushed Halii to Brookdale Hospital, where she died.
A neighbor, Beatrice Baker, said they had just moved into the building and Halii “was always smiling.”
Police were talking to the mother at the 75th Precinct station house early today, sources said. She has not been charged with any crime. The Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
