Ex-Yank jailed for drugs

NEW BERN, NC — Former Yankee pitching prospect Brien Taylor was sentenced yesterday to 38 months in prison after pleading guilty in August to distributing crack cocaine.

Taylor, 40, regarded as one of the biggest busts in MLB history, told US District Court Judge Louise Flanagan at yesterday’s sentencing that he was sorry for causing so much pain to his family.

Undercover cops bought cocaine and crack from him over several months.

Taylor hurt his arm in a fight in 1993 and never threw a pitch in the majors. He was the No. 1 selection in the 1991 draft and got a then-record $1.55 million signing bonus.
