Father killed on daughter’s birthday in B’klyn hit-run, woman injured

A Brooklyn father of two was struck by two cars and killed in a Williamsburg hit and run this morning — on his daughter’s 8th birthday, authorities and family said.

Raoul De La Cruz, 35, was with a 24-year-old woman, who was also badly injured in the 5 a.m. accident, cops said.

The two were crossing Borinquen Place when a Chevy Malibu, heading eastbound, careened into them and catapulted De La Cruz into oncoming traffic where he was hit by a second car.

The driver of the Malibu fled the scene and abandoned the car, which was later found by cops.

“Because of this person she (his daughter) won’t have a birthday party,” said a close friend. “He was going to spend Saturday with her. He was going to take her to Chuck-E-Cheese.”

The Domincan Republic native, who also has a 5-year-old son, worked in a Manhattan parking garage and was remembered by friends for his laughter.

“He had a funny laugh, when he laughed, everybody laughed,” said friend Sandy Hierro, 29.

“I feel sad because he was looking forward to next year.”

The woman injured in the accident was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.
