DA bulldozes wiseguy claim

A Gambino mobster should not have his sentencing for extortion delayed because he is repairing his house damaged by Hurricane Sandy, federal prosecutors argued yesterday.

Last week, wiseguy Emanuel Garofalo, 64, requested a Brooklyn federal judge postpone his Dec. 6 sentencing because he claims he’s busy operating a bulldozer helping to clean up his Sea Gate neighborhood.

“Garofalo has already been provided with nearly nine months to prepare for his sentencing, and his assertion that he now needs six additional weeks is not reasonable,” Assistant US Attorney Whitman Knapp wrote to the judge.

The judge has not yet ruled on his request.
