A 24-year-old skateboarder who fell and was bending down to pick up his board was mowed down by a delivery truck near Union Square Park yesterday, cops said.
The man was declared dead at Beth Israel Hospital after the horrific 11:15 a.m. accident at Broadway and East 17th Street.
“I was trying to save his life and instead he died right in my hands,” said witness David Schaller.
