Landry glad he chose Jets

LaRon Landry could have been on the other sideline tonight.

The Jets safety visited New England during free agency before ultimately signing a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Jets. Landry sounds like he is happy he chose to go to the Jets instead of the Patriots.

“It was a great visit, let’s leave it at that,” the veteran safety said Tuesday. “I’m here. I love where I’m at. This is home and, hopefully, it will remain home.”

Landry will be an unrestricted free agent this winter and the Jets likely will try to bring him back.

The knock on Landry entering this year was his inability to stay healthy, but the Jets have been able to keep him on the field for every game with a plan devised by their trainers to keep him out of practice once a week in order to rest.

Landry, known for his own hard hits, commented on Ravens safety Ed Reed initially getting suspended and then fined for his helmet-to-helmet hits.

“I’m more than sure it wasn’t intentional,” Landry said. “He’s one of the elite guys, if not the best at his position. I’m happy his [penalty] got reduced. It’s football, man. Within this game, we have rules. It’s going to be enforced.”

* The Jets will sign rookie WR Jordan White off the practice squad today, according to a source. White, taken in the seventh round of the draft, has not been active for a game this season.

The Jets still have two roster spots to fill. It is likely they will sign a cornerback, possibly Donnie Fletcher off their practice squad.

There was one surprise on the Jets’ injury report. Quarterback Tim Tebow is listed as questionable because of his rib injury. Tebow suffered the injury two weeks ago in Seattle, but played in St. Louis on Sunday. He practiced yesterday, so it seems like a procedural part of the injury report.

* Patriots DE Chandler Jones (ankle) and G Logan Mankins (ankle/calf) were ruled out, along with TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm). TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) is expected to play. … Along with Tebow, DL Sione Po’uha (back), DL Kenrick Ellis (knee), RB Joe McKnight (ankle), LB Bart Scott (toe), WR Jeremy Kerley (heel/hamstring) and CB Aaron Berry (quad) were listed as questionable for the Jets.
