The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits fell last week but remained elevated due to Superstorm Sandy. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 41,000 to a seasonally adjusted 410,000, the Labor Department said.

Abercrombie & Fitch settled an age-discrimination lawsuit brought by a former corporate jet pilot after a judge ordered CEO Michael Jeffries to give a second deposition in the case. The suit was filed more than two years ago in federal court in Philadelphia.
