Jets report card

OFFENSE: F

Pitiful. That’s the word to describe this hapless group. Don’t be fooled by their 405 total yards. The Jets came into the game with no plan. They showed no life. They had no rhythm. It was as bad an effort as you could see, including four turnovers. QB Mark Sanchez (26 of 36 passes, 301 yards, one touchdown, one interception, one fumble) put up garbage-time numbers and choked when it counted again. Tony Sparano showed no imagination and was running draws when the team was down by 30 points.

DEFENSE: F

This was a humiliating performance for Rex Ryan and Mike Pettine. The Patriots put up 475 yards of offense on them, the most the Jets have allowed under Ryan. QB Tom Brady (18 of 28, 323 yards, three TDS) picked the Jets apart. He exploited bad matchups all night and sliced up the Jets. Good thing the Patriots didn’t have Rob Gronkowski.

SPECIAL TEAMS: D

Joe McKnight contributed to the comedy of errors with his fumbled kickoff return that was returned for a touchdown. Gotta give it to kicker Nick Folk, though — he’s the most consistent player on the Jets.

COACHING: F

Rex Ryan looks like Rich Kotite right now. His team stinks. He is delusional in his press conferences. He keeps talking about improving when it’s almost December. He looks lost. Sparano is a disaster. He showed he could beat the Rams last week. When the competition rises, he folds. He had no plan and his offense is incapable of mounting a comeback once it’s down 14 points.
