W’burg ‘rape’ fiend collared

Police nabbed a man who choked and raped a young woman after following her into a Williamsburg apartment building, authorities said yesterday.

Laye Kaba, 31, of East New York, allegedly stalked the 23-year-old victim into a Kent Avenue building at about 5:45 a.m. Saturday and strangled her with a scarf before sexually assaulting her.

Police searched nearby homeless shelters for the suspect, who was allegedly caught on surveillance camera.

Someone staying at a shelter identified him as having lived there, and he was taken into custody when he went to pick up his mail, police sources said.

Kaba was charged with rape, burglary, stalking, sex abuse, strangulation, menacing and unlawful imprisonment.

His rap sheet details 20 prior arrests, including assault, robbery, grand larceny, and drug-related collars, according to the sources.

The woman did not know her attacker, cops said.
