’Cuse too tough for Wagner

Brandon Triche had 21 points and seven rebounds, Michael Carter-Williams added six points, six rebounds, three steals and a career-high 11 assists, and Syracuse beat the visiting Seahawks 88-57 yesterday.

After a pedestrian first half, Syracuse (2-0) had a blistering second, shooting 67.9 percent (19 of 28) to pull away as coach Jim Boeheim gave nine players 13 minutes or more of floor time. Wagner committed 23 turnovers that the Orange converted into 29 points and was outscored 18-6 on the fast break.

“You turn the ball over 23 times against those guys, it’s curtains,” said Wagner coach Bashir Mason. “Those guys are extremely good at getting out and running.’’

Wagner (0-2) was outrebounded 49-36, though the Seahawks held their own on the offensive glass (Syracuse held a 15-13 edge), went 5 for 17 from behind the arc, and missed 10 free throws.

Shabazz Napier scored 23 of his career-high 29 points in the final 3:24 of regulation and two overtime periods to help No. 23 Connecticut (4-0) beat Quinnipiac in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.

Gene Teague scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Seton Hall (3-1) overcame an early 13-point deficit to beat Rhode Island (0-4) in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament.

Le’Bryan Nash has 23 points and Marcus Smart added 20 points as Oklahoma State (4-0) beat No. 6 N.C. State (3-1) in the title game of the Puerto Rico Tipoff.

Hofstra 103, Marshall 100 (2 OT)

In Hempstead, Shaquille Stokes netted 26 points, including 10 in overtime, as Hofstra (3-2) topped Marshall in double overtime.

Stokes put the Pride up 94-89 with two free throws and a 3-pointer to begin the second overtime.

Sacred Heart 64, Stony Brook 62

In Stony Brook, Louis Montes led the way with 20 points for the Sacred Heart.
