Calling out tough-guy prez: Let’s take up his dare

The Issue: Obama saying people should hold him accountable, not Susan Rice, for Benghazi comments.

I guess we have a tough-guy, bully president (“‘Go After Me’” Editorial, Nov. 15).

President Obama called out Sens. Lindsey Graham and John McCain, saying: “If they want to go after somebody, they should go after me.” That’s rough talk and braggadocio.

It reminds me of when he said, “Voting is the best revenge.” Does our transformational president ever speak in anything but angry, dangerous imagery? Is he a playground thug now that he is untouchable?

He has a dimwitted electorate that keeps voting for him no matter how he hurts them. He is all talk without results. He is Clint Eastwood’s empty chair — with tacks on it. David Lawrence

I am thoroughly incensed and disgusted with the president. His attitude at Wednesday’s press conference was nothing short of gratuitous arrogance.

UN Ambassador Susan Rice’s dishonesty, the fiscal cliff and the Benghazi debacle are all legitimate concerns of the people. I can’t wait for the investigation to hop on Obama’s comment that Rice’s statements were made at the request of the White House.

As for going over the economic cliff, it doesn’t sound so bad if America takes him with it. America is bigger, better and stronger than Obama’s arrogance.

If the press digs as deep as it did against Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon, I believe it will be shown that Obama has dirty hands. Impeachment is not far off.

Obama said he was willing to “look into” entitlement reform, claimed that he was going to “get to the bottom” of who was responsible for the Benghazi fiasco and added that he didn’t want to comment on the Petraeus scandal because there is an “ongoing investigation.”

Those are Obama’s code words for “How dare you ask me about those things? I will keep giving you vague answers until you stop asking me, because I have no intention of ever addressing those issues.”

Obama seemingly dared his Republican counterparts to go after him, rather than pick on Rice, regarding Benghazi.

The president is baiting his own hook for an impeachment hearing.

Should the GOP do its duty and hold the president accountable for not protecting four American lives, covering it up and subsequently politicizing it to serve his re-election campaign, it doesn’t need revenge as its motivation.

If Congress wishes to keep its oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, it should answer Obama’s dare and legally remove him from office.E. Dunn

It’s been four years, and McCain still hasn’t gotten over losing to Obama. Why didn’t he take the president on face to face rather than by proxy? Only cowards pick on women for no reason.

I think it’s time McCain quit whining and remember that his job is to serve the best interests of the citizens.

Obama insinuated that McCain is a wimp for taking on Rice, but who is the real wimp?

Who is the military veteran who fought in Vietnam? Who was a prisoner of war tortured in a Hanoi prison camp? Who stood by his troops and never abandoned any of his men? Who would have sacrificed his life for America? Who, for many years, was dodging bullets? Who endured broken bones as a result of torture by his captors?

Also, who never served in the military? Tell me: Who’s the tough guy, and who’s the wimp?R. Kuhlman
