Men’s Health editor Zinczenko out at Rodale

Men’s Health Editor-in-Chief and best-selling author David Zinczenko is out at Rodale after a dozen years in the top job.

Bill Phillips, who was running companion site Menshealth.com, was tapped to replace him.

“This was a mutual decision, but we initiated the discussion,” said Marie Rodale, the chairman and CEO of the family-owned magazine and book empire.

“His contract was up at yearend, and we decided it was a good time to make a change.”

Steve Perrine, the head of Rodale Books who helped revive Best Life earlier this year, is also out.

Perrine and Zinczenko are said to be teaming up on a new venture.

“I wish the team at Rodale well and am excited about the opportunities in health, well being and lifestyle media that lie ahead,” said Zinczenko.

The 20-year veteran of Rodale is staying mum on what, if any, new plans he has in the works.

Zinczenko, the author of the bestselling “Eat This, Not That” franchise and “The Abs Diet,” only last year was elevated to executive vice president and general manager of Rodale’s Healthy Living Group, which includes Women’s Health, Prevention and Organic Gardening.

In addition, he makes frequent appearances on NBC’s “Today” morning show and is a co-investor in the West Village media hot spot The Lion restaurant.

Some sources said that Maria Rodale felt that Zinczenko outshined the company brands with his own relentless self-promotion.

“I wish him the best as he continues on with his high-profile life,” she told The Post. “This isn’t about celebrity, it’s about substance for the reader.”

She said putting a digital editor in charge of the magazine makes for “creative innovation that frees up everyone.”

“It’s not Dave’s Health, it’s Men’s Health,” she added.
