Woman shot in face by stray bullet in Crown Heights

A 32-year-old woman was shot in the face in her Crown Heights apartment this afternoon after a stray bullet whizzed through her first-floor window, cops said.

The bullet went through her right cheek and came out the left, police said.

She was washing dishes when she heard a pop in the kitchen, and noticed he was bleeding, police sources said.

“I was surprised, her apartment faces the playground outside,” said Evelyn Vasquez, 64, a neighbor at the Pacific Street building where the shooting occurred at 3:25 p.m.

Still, “This happens often,” Vasquez said. “We throw ourselves on the floor” during shootings outside.

“It shouldn’t have happened to her. She’s a new tenant, been here for about a year. … She’s quiet, no problems. … I’m sorry she was the one.

“One day it could happen to me,” the worried neighbor added.

Another tenant on the first floor said “It happened to me too, April 16 last year at 2:00 a.m. It just missed me,” when a stray bullet came flying through her kitchen window.

The victim was sent to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, cops said.
