Yonkers ex-pol gets six years for corruption

A crooked ex-pol from Yonkers went down with a dramatic flourish today as she was sentenced to six years in the slammer for corruption.

Former Democratic Councilwoman Sandy Annabi was tearful and trembling as she read a prepared statement in which she apologized for pocketing nearly $200,000 worth of bribes from then-GOP Chairman Zehy Jereis to approve a pair of controversial development plans.

”The gifts I accepted from Zehy Jereis — as you called him, my ‘sugar daddy’ — I never should have,” she told the judge.

But the heavily made-up Annabi never finished her plea for mercy, breaking down in sobs before declaring: “I can’t finish this” and tearing the type-written page in two.

Manhattan federal Judge Colleen McMahon called Annabi and Jereis’ scheme “particularly pernicious,” but said their failed effort to beat the rap by faking evidence that Jereis, a married father of two, showered Annabi with cash, jewelry and other gifts to try and bed her was “far more heinous.”

”The jury didn’t believe your Sisyphean, five-year courtship of Miss Annabi,” McMahon told Jereis before sentencing him to four years behind bars.

After the punishments were imposed, defense lawyer Edward Sapone said Annabi was addicted to Xanax and asked that she get drug treatment in prison, which could shave a year off her sentence.
