‘Cannibal’ cop’s plea

The alleged “cannibal cop” pleaded not guilty yesterday in federal court.

Gilberto Valle, 28, wore a standard blue jail jumpsuit to his brief courtroom appearance before Manhattan federal Judge Paul Gardephe.

Valle’s defense lawyer, Julia Gatto, said that she’d make a new bail application today.

“You have a hard row to hoe,” Gardephe said, citing Valle’s two previous, unsuccessful efforts to get bail.

But Gatto said her next application will be different because probation officers have given their blessing for Valle to get bail, as long as “appropriate conditions” are set.

“Pretrial services now recommends release,” Gatto said.

Valle, of Forest Hills, Queens, pleaded not guilty to kidnapping conspiracy and illegally accessing a law-enforcement database.

Feds said Valle planned to kidnap, rape, torture and eat as many as 100 women.
