A New York appeals panel yesterday heard fresh arguments on an old subject — worship services in public schools — and seemed hesitant to let them continue.
The three-judge panel of the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals had plenty of questions as the 12-year-old case reached it for a fifth time.
But two of the three judges kept a lawyer for the Bronx Household of Faith on the defensive as the lawyer claimed a lower court correctly ruled for the church earlier this year.
That decision barred New York City from enforcing a law that would block churches from conducting their worship service in public schools during after-school hours.
The appeals court did not immediately rule.
