D’Antoni will make Lakers debut vs. Nets ‘no matter what’

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Mike D’Antoni said he will make his Lakers coaching debut on Tuesday night vs. the Nets.

“Yeah, I am going all 48,” D’Antoni said with a smile at the Lakers shootaround. “I’m going. I gotta do it sometime.”

D’Antoni had hoped to coach Sunday against the Rockets, but was convinced to sit by the team’s medical staff shortly before the Lakers’ victory. D’Antoni, who underwent knee replacement surgery recently, also intends to make the Lakers upcoming road trip following the meeting with the Nets at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

So, what’s different this time?

“Because I am saying I am going no matter what,” the former Knicks coach said. “I feel better. I feel 10-times better than I did Sunday.”

D’Antoni was named Lakers coach last week to replace Mike Brown, who was fired five games into his second season.
