Bam’s Benghazi botch and the media’s betrayal

The Issue: The role of the press and the administration in the spread of misinformation about Benghazi.

I agree with every word Ralph Peters writes in “It Doesn’t Add Up” (PostOpinion, Nov. 19).

The Obama administration responded to the Benghazi attack in a terrible manner.

The news media and an election campaign focusing on other issues caused the other half of the country to lose the small amount of respect it had left for the president.

No matter who is found to be correct, the scandalous manner in which the administration reacted has led to a loss of credibility and trust. Tyler Zimmerman

Where are all the investigative journalists now — like Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein?

They left no stone unturned in their crusade to oust Richard Nixon over the coverup of a petty burglary. Now that the coverup is about a terrorist attack on our consulate and the loss of American lives, and centers around President Obama, their “hero,” they are nowhere to be found.

Can anyone now deny that the mainstream media is a puppet of the liberal, left-wing loonies?

Obama and his minions continue to obfuscate about Benghazi.

Congress has its usual array of meaningless partisan investigations and, true to form, is focused on the post-attack spin rather than the pre-attack preparation.

But the basic facts are clear. The ambassador and his team recognized the increasing danger and requested assistance prior to the attack, and officials refused those requests. The lives lost were both a personal tragedy and national embarrassment.

The only question is whether the administration’s abandonment of its diplomatic staff was a crass attempt to obscure a deteriorating situation prior to the election, or yet another manifestation of its well-established ineptitude in foreign affairs.

Two presidents have been involved in famous scandals and coverups.

One involved a break-in at the Watergate Hotel. Not a single soul got so much as a hangnail before, during or after Watergate. President Nixon was forced to leave office in disgrace.

The other president is currently involved in at least two scandals that we know of, which took the lives of one US ambassador, two border-patrol officers, three other Americans and untold numbers of Mexican citizens. In addition to this carnage, this president has presided over one of the most calamitous and destructive terms in our history.

He just got re-elected.

What made the difference? In both cases, it is our nation’s corrupt, duplicitous, treasonous, ultra-liberal, agenda-driven mainstream media. Jim Autino

Michael Goodwin has the gumption to call Obama and his minions liars (“Bam Hides Terror Truth,” Nov. 18).

Obama and his regime don’t just misspeak; they are liars, plain and simple. I hold CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and the rest of the Obama network equally responsible for purposely misleading the American people.

When is America going to wake up and see these people for who they really are?

The brazen arrogance of this liar-in-chief who besmirches the presidency makes Richard Nixon look like George Washington.

Where is Woodward when we need him?

Like in Watergate, the truth is being murdered; unlike in Watergate, an American ambassador along with three others have been murdered.

Impeachment, anyone?
