Chris’ golden fleece

New Jersey Gov. Christie’s wife is considering auctioning off her hubby’s now-famous blue storm fleece to raise money for the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief fund.

Christie wore the personalized fleece constantly while traveling through shore communities in the hurricane’s aftermath, and it’s become a hot item.

Mary Pat Christie, who chairs the relief fund, revealed that she was offered $1,000 for the garment, and rejected it as too little.

“I’d have to get a lot more than $1,000 for it,” she told the Star-Ledger.

Asked if she would put up the fleece for auction, the first lady said, “I may have to consider it.”

For certain, the super sized fleece isn’t a one-size fits all jacket. But it is a collector’s item.

The governor’s fleece has become such an iconic image since the superstorm that it even has its own twitter hash tag: Gov Christie Fleece@NJGovFleece.
