Guzzle away: Bloomberg ends gas rationing

Mayor Bloomberg today put an end to the city’s odd-even license plate system for gasoline purchases, two weeks after he established the emergency plan to ease lines at the pump following super storm Sandy.

Drivers can begin getting gas whenever the need strikes them beginning tomorrow at six am.

More than 85 percent of the city’s gas stations are now operational, a significant number that’s expected to grow in the coming days, Bloomberg said.

“The odd-even license plate system not only significantly reduced extreme lines, but also eased anxiety and disruptions for drivers at gas stations across the five boroughs,” said Mayor Bloomberg.
