Teen jumps to death off Brooklyn Bridge

A teenager leapt to his death this morning from the Brooklyn Bridge during morning rush hour traffic, authorities said.

The 19-year-old climbed the cables off of the Brooklyn-bound roadway around 7:20 a.m. when emergency workers responded to the call, said a spokesman for the FDNY.

A witness saw the man put leave his jacket on a bench, swing around a gate and climb the tower.

“He paced around back and forth for a while before jumping,” Andrew Malone said. “He looked calm.”

All bridge traffic was shut down in both directions to pedestrians and cars, cops said.

The man jumped about 30 minutes later from the Brooklyn side of the bridge and landed near the River Cafe, police sources said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
