‘Sick’ Queens school reopens

Students returned to PS 114 in Belle Harbor yesterday for the first time since Superstorm Sandy — where they found the gutted gymnasium still off limits, the auditorium floor ripped out and a vacuum machine purifying the air.

Their parents said they’re concerned the Department of Education rushed their kids back into the heavily damaged school without showing it’s safe.

“None of us want to realize we made a mistake by allowing our children to come back too soon,” said PTA President Irene Dougherty.

DOE officials said they’re willing to show parents the results of environmental tests conducted at the school.
