China falls for Kim Jong Un ‘sexiest man’ joke

This chunk is a . . . hunk?

The People’s Daily — mouthpiece of Beijing’s ruling Communist Party, with a circulation topping 3 million — fell for a spoof by The Onion, which dubbed Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of North Korea, the “Sexiest Man Alive for 2012.”

The clueless Chinese newspaper’s Web site ran a story with 55 photos to justify The Onion’s description of him as “every woman’s dream come true” with his “devastatingly handsome round face, boyish charm and his strong, sturdy frame.”

Not getting the joke, the Daily’s English-language site quoted the satirical newspaper’s claim that Kim made its “editorial board swoon with his impeccable fashion sense, chic short hairstyle, and, of course, that famous smile.”
