Boyfriend in custody after Queens woman is found strangled in The Bronx

A young Queens woman was found strangled in her car early yesterday in the The Bronx after a man called 911 to say he had killed his friend, police sources said.

Officers found Madonna Martin, 22, at around 4:25 a.m. behind the wheel of her white Honda at Brook Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard in Mott Haven.

Her boyfriend, Richard Bloomfield, 40, was found nearby with his wrists slit, the sources added.

He was charged with murder last night.

Investigators theorize he killed Martin during an argument in his Fox Street apartment, then drove the body to the desolate intersection a mile and a half away, sources said.

Bloomfield apparently tried to commit suicide, but was saved by EMTs and taken for psychiatric evaluation to Lincoln Hospital.

Neighbor Steven Dyson, 27, said he saw a couple matching their description leaving the man’s home on Thanksgiving.

“She was getting into a white car, and it was just ‘Hi’ and ‘Bye,’ ” said Dyson, a YMCA sports supervisor.

“They looked happy. She was driving. He hopped in, and they drove off.”

The city Medical Examiner’s Office is to determine the cause of death.
