No. 1 Hoosiers stomp Tar Heels

Cody Zeller had 20 points and eight rebounds, leading No. 1 Indiana to a stunning 83-59 rout of No. 14 North Carolina last night in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge in Bloomington, Ind..

Victor Oladipo and Will Sheehey added 19 points for the Hoosiers (7-0), who have won 34 consecutive November games at home.

The Tar Heels (5-2) were led by Dexter Strickland with 14 points and Marcus Paige with 11 — not nearly enough when North Carolina managed three points and one field goal — a tip-in that Indiana may have gotten a hand on — in the first 8 1/2 minutes of the second half.

Michigan 79, N.C. State 72

In Ann Arbor, Mich., Trey Burke had 18 points and 11 assists, and No. 3 Michigan (6-0) held off a late rally by No. 18 North Carolina State (4-2).

Freshman Nik Stauskas led the Wolverines with 20 points. N.C. State trailed 73-58 before going on a 10-0 run capped by T.J. Warren’s layup with 2:11 left.

Minnesota 77, Florida St. 68

In Tallahassee, Fla., Joe Coleman scored 16 points, Rodney Williams added 14 and No. 21 Minnesota (7-1) never trailed against defending ACC champion Florida State (4-2).

The ACC did manage a couple of ACC/Big Ten challenge wins: Virginia Tech posted a 95-79 victory over visiting Iowa, and Maryland ran away from host Northwestern, 77-57.

Colorado 85, Texas Southern 80

In Boulder, Colo., Josh Scott scored the first two baskets of the second overtime and No. 19 Colorado (6-0) fought back from an early 15-point deficit to beat Texas Southern (1-6).

NJIT 98, Lyndon State 42

In Newark, Ryan Woods and Ky Howard scored 16 points apiece to lead New Jersey Institute of Technology (4-2) to a rout of Division III Lyndon State.

Lehigh 77, Quinnipiac 66

In Hamden, Conn., C.J. McCollum scored 30 points, including 14 straight late in the second half, as Lehigh (5-2) bested Quinnipiac (2-4).
