Middle-school grid season lost in the ‘haze’

A Westchester middle school canceled its final three football games after players refused to snitch about an alleged hazing incident, it was reported yesterday.

The locker-room bullying involved eighth-graders at the Isaac E. Young Middle School in New Rochelle harassing, mocking and tugging at the clothes of younger players, WCBS/Channel 2 reported.

The students’ antics occurred as Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” played, according to a local Web site, Talk of the Sound.

The alleged incident took place at the end of October. A concerned parent alerted the school’s principal, Anthony Bongo, who notified police, CBS reported.

No charges were filed, but several students were suspended, according to the the report.

Bongo forfeited the final three games after students refused to rat out the ringleaders, CBS said.
