At least ‘Derek Eater’ has Good Humor

Derek Jeter busted a gut over The Post’s back page last week that appeared to show the Yankees captain having put on a few pounds.

Yesterday, Jeter went on ESPN Radio and joked about the Nov. 30 edition of the paper, which featured the headline “Derek Eater” and an unflattering photo of the shortstop at a Miami hotel.

“I thought it was pretty funny,” said Jeter, who expects to be ready for Opening Day after fracturing his left ankle in this year’s ALCS. “I guess there’s a lot of things you can do with a picture. The funny thing is we were just talking about, before then, the day or two before then, people were telling me I lost a lot of weight, and then two days later I’m on the [back] page of the New York Post. They had a little fun with it. But it’s over and done with.

“Hey listen, I’m not battling the New York Post. That’s a no-win situation. I guess they do what they do, they had fun with it. I got messages with a lot of different people asking me what I’m doing.”
