Cuomo hit$ up DC

WASHINGTON — Gov. Cuomo yesterday made his first trip to the nation’s capital since taking the helm in Albany, to press his case for $42 billion in disaster aid — even stopping at the White House.

Cuomo, who has been touted as a possible presidential candidate in 2016, started his storm-aid campaign at the White House meeting with President Obama’s chief of staff, Jack Lew, and other aides.

The Democrat then hit the Capitol to meet with legislative leaders from both parties, including House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

“People are still reeling from this trauma, and New York needs help,” Cuomo said after meeting with the Senate Appropriations Committee.

“New York has been there for other parts of the country when they needed help,” he added. “We’re asking for the same today.”

A White House hurricane-recovery bill is expected to reach Congress by Friday.
