Name Check: Tichina Arnold recalls chance to sing backup for Madonna

Actor Tichina Arnold stopped by The Post’s Name Check to talk about her TV Land sitcom “Happily Divorced,” her extensive career on stage at a young age and why she gave up the chance to sing backup for Madonna.

Arnold, known for her roles in both the film and Off-Broadway production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” and television shows “Martin” and “Everybody Hates Chris,” often plays strong, sassy characters with plenty of personality. That personality was not tempered when the Queens, New York native sat down with Michael Riedel and shared her love of theater, television and music.

From stage to film, soap operas to television, Arnold has made a name for herself and credits her Uncle Ronnie for getting her into the industry. Also on Name Check, Arnold explains how her uncle’s HIV status and subsequent suicide impacted her family. Watch the video for more on how this big personality remains a mainstay on the small screen and her future aspirations for Broadway.
