And the day just keeps going downhill for Lindsay Lohan.

California prosecutors filed charges this afternoon against the troubled starlet for allegedly lying this summer to police, authorities said.

The criminal complaint, by the Santa Monica City Attorney’s Office, was filed hours after she was busted in New York following a nightclub brouhaha.

Lohan, 26, was wearing handcuffs early this morning after getting into a fight at club Avenue in Manhattan, law enforcement sources said.

She allegedly exchanged words with a fellow clubgoer, and then she punched Tiffany Eve Mitchell, 28, causing bruising and swelling to the victim’s face, cops said.

Mitchell, her husband and another couple were sitting in a VIP section, separate from Lohan’s group, when a fight broke out nearby — and both women stood up to watch, law enforcement sources said.

Mitchell, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Lohan bumped into each other and words were exchanged but both returned to their seats, the source said.

Then Lohan allegedly got back up and punched Mitchell in the face, the source said.

The throw down could also be linked to Lohan, earlier in the evening, vying for the eye of boy-band heart throb Max George from The Wanted, according to TMZ. Linz was reportedly mad that Max had turned his attention to the Florida woman.

Mitchell’s husband called police, and the woman pointed out Lohan as her attacker, police sources said.

Lohan was riding away from the scene when cops arrived shortly after 4 a.m., law enforcement sources said. The “Mean Girl” was in the front passenger seat of an SUV when cops stopped the car and Mitchell pointed to Linz, “That’s her!” sources said.

Lohan was later taken to the 10th Precinct Station House for processing, accused of misdemeanor assault. She received a desk appearance ticket, sources said.

As if the New York arrest wasn’t bad enough, now Lohan is in hot water on two coasts.

Santa Monica prosecutors said Lohan lied to cops about her role in a car accident on the Pacific Coast Highway in June, authorities said.

She’s been charged with allegedly obstructing the duty of an officer, giving false information to an officer and reckless driving, all in connection to her June 8 smash up on the PCH.

All the Santa Monica charges are misdemeanors.

Lohan was in a rented black Porche, with a her personal assistant, when their fancy wheels collided with a dump truck. She allegedly told police she was a passenger when she was the driver, authorities said. The Porche was totaled.

Lohan is still on probation from her famed June 2011 jewelry heist.

The Santa Monica action and this New York bust could be enough for LA prosecutors to demand Lohan’s probation be revoked — and have the actress tossed in jail.

Lohan’s publicist declined to discuss this morning’s brouhaha, and the actress’ lawyers did not immediately return messages seeking their comments.

Lohan, wearing a green dress, black leggings and gem-encrusted heels, along with a large group exited the precinct around 7:30 a.m. with her head covered by a dark coat as they walked to a waiting car.

She was heard yelling “get out of the car Gavin, get of the car now” several times.

“It’s become a pastime to use her name and fame and blame things on her,” said Gavin Doyle, a Lohan assistant.

Earlier this morning, two dark-haired men and two blondes left the precinct, one of whom is believed to be Mitchell. The women didn’t speak but the man who identified himself as Mitchell’s husband said: “Lindsay Lohan got drunk and went crazy.”

Police hope the Avenue brouhaha was captured on security cameras. Four detectives, a captain and a sergeant descended on the nightclub to grab footage.

“We’re here for the surveillance [footage] and they’re burning it on a CD for us,” an investigator said.

Before Lohan hit Avenue, the actress was spotted at Madison Square Garden where she was treated for a severe case of Bieber Fever. The starlet and her sister Ali had prime seats for the sold-out Justin Bieber show last night.

The night of family fun and hard partying, followed by the arrest, comes days after Lohan’s latest career comeback attempt, the Lifetime movie “Liz & Dick,” debuted.

Last night’s fracas is just the latest in a long line of previous offenses which include DUIs and failed drug tests for the “Mean Girls” actress whose career once seemed so bring.

Lohan was accused of clipping a pedestrian with her car outside of the Dream Downtown Hotel earlier this year, but Manhattan prosecutors decided not to pursue a case.

Lohan discussed her troubles and growth in an interview last week with Jay Leno.

“I kind of am still a kid, in a way. I’m 26,” she said. “You get caught up in everything, and it’s important to kind of find yourself and keep yourself through that, and I went through that.”

Lohan was actually banned from Avenue years ago, after tweeting about Justin Timberlake’s dating blunders, but that ban was later lifted.

Linz’s wayward dad Michael Lohan today jumped at the chance to bash ex-wife Dina Lohan, and accuse her of ignoring his demands to get their daughter help.

“Both [Dina] and Lindsay are in a dark place,” Michael Lohan told RadarOnline.”I told you exactly what would happen and you know I was trying to get Dina on board with me for a long time, but especially the last two weeks.”

Dina shot back at Michael, telling him to keep his mouth shut.

“Before you go to the press a minute after our daughter’s headlines hits the airwaves, take a pause Michael, stop injecting yourself into every story, as this once again proves to your daughter, your sole desperate agenda is in keeping yourself relevant,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.”

Michael Lohan insisted he just wants to help his daughter avoid tragedy.

“I don’t want a Heath Ledger, I don’t want a Brittany Murphy, I don’t want Michael Jackson on my hands,” the told “The Insider” syndicated TV show. “This is my daughter. I love her and if anything happens to her the people who are turning a blind eye to this are the ones who are going to be held accountable and I’m not going to take it lightly at all. Trust me on that,” Lohan told The Insider.
