Former ADA in pot bust

He used to put pot dealers in jail — but now he’s charged with dealing pot out of his car.

Former Manhattan prosecutor David Leung, 44, was back in his old courthouse yesterday, standing at the defendant table on his arrest for criminal sale and possession of marijuana after getting snagged in a September buy-and-bust operation on East Ninth Street.

Leung actually recognized some of his arresting officers when detectives from Manhattan South Narcotics nabbed him with some 10 ounces of high-grade marijuana, selling for $200 to $250 an ounce, sources told The Post.

“I had cases with that guy — he handled felonies, misdemeanors, a little of everything,” one shocked defense lawyer said when he spotted Leung in court, recalling him as “a quiet, do-nothing kind of prosecutor.”

The Manhattan DA’s Office confirmed that Leung had worked there from 1994 to 2003.

Leung had since gone into private practice and moved to Indiana with his wife before embarking on his alleged high-grade delivery service.

He was busted easily after undercover cops got the name of his alleged service, called his number, and set up a delivery.

In court yesterday, prosecutors told him he had not yet been indicted and set a return date of Jan. 22 for possible grand jury action. He and his lawyer did not comment as they left court. Leung remains free without bail.
